2025: A thumping good read. Jackson doles out little things that make you ask questions. What happened six years ago? Why isn't Merricat allowed to do all those things? Why can't Constance recognize Cousin Charlie is The Worst? Deeply unsettling in the best way.
2013: A spooky, weird gem of a novel. Small, but perfectly formed. The Penguin cover with the black and white illustrations is a perfect match.
