Trigger warnings: death of a parent (in the past), grief, mental health, abandonment, car accident, bullying, homophobia
The blurb of this sounded delightful. Unfortunately, I mostly found this...dull? It's very light on plot and I spent probably half the book wondering what the actual purpose of the book was because there didn't seem to be any...drive to the story. It just felt like a series of vignettes about the same characters rather than a STORY itself. You know?
Anyway, it got there in the end. And I did like the way the story played out with Sal's family. It just felt like it took a long time to actually get to the point. And the haunted house stuff honestly felt like a distraction that wasn't necessary.
