The Lucky One
by Nicholas Sparks
Let me start by saying that Nicholas Sparks is a wonderfully friendly man (yes, I have met him at a book signing - he was generous and attentive to all of his fans), but his books aren't always my favorite. They aren't BAD per se. I just think they all sound kind of the same. The stories full of clichés (weather took a turn for the worse - we must be getting to the dramatic part) and overt characterisation (good guys are practically flawless, bad guys have no redeeming qualities). However, if you look at it as total fluff, it's not too bad. None of the leads died in this one, though, so that's a step in the right direction, right?
