The Change by Angela White

I was expecting this to be an A grade trainwreck. There was a part of me that sort of HOPED it would be. Instead, it's just... fine. It could use another run through with an editor for some grammar stuff, and the author's two biggest vices are an overuse of... ellipses... and a penchant for being excruciatingly vague in distinguishing speaking voices in dialogue.

Beyond that, it's actually a nice upset from the usual post-apocalyptic stuff. In this flavor of The Rest of the World, women outnumber the men about 90 to 1, and are also subject to a rage-inducing mutation. Consequently, the men are controlled and mollified, while the women become varying flavors of Amazon-types. It's like an inverse romance novel. It's not very well done - like I said, the writing is somewhat incoherent - but it isn't actively BAD.
