Well. Safe to say I’m a mess.
The journey this story took me on was a wild one. The prose alone is almost enough to warrant 5 stars. Truly some of the most gorgeous descriptions I’ve read in my life. The sheer amount of literary devices utilised was dizzying in the best way. My only critique is a few phrases were recycled a little too much and it felt rather chewy at times.
That being said, Drews captured queer yearning in such a familiar, albeit harrowing way, it almost felt like some of the pages were torn straight out of my own juvenile diary. I don’t think I’ve experienced this much nostalgia from a book for a long time, and there is a book-shaped hole in my heart upon finishing.
