Alright, this book was honestly a balm after a lot of disappointing romance reads, although I can't help but believe that I am not made for cozy romances. In fact, what lacked according to me given the themes, was the fact that I'd have liked a bit more of angst and conflict between the characters (pls give me books where the characters have conflict).
Otherwise I loved the characters: Misery is a dumbass but my dumbass, while Lowe is goals. The worlbuilding is amazing and I love that Ali chose a more scientific explanation for fantastic creatures. I love her. I honestly honestly loved it and enjoyed it, although I didn't think that the main relationship was anything much and I could foresee so any plot-twists.

Moderate: Gore, Violence, and Blood
