DNF at 64% - I pushed through more of this book than I originally intended, mostly because it was a gift from my mom and I adored the witchy atmosphere.
Unfortunately it ended up putting me in a huuuge reading slump. Picking it up started to feel like a chore and I lost interest about halfway through. The writing itself is really beautiful but the pacing was so uneven. I struggled to stay invested and the relationships between characters were introduced so quickly that everything started to feel muddled. Eventually nothing made much sense anymore.
This was my second attempt at an Alix E. Harrow book and once again it turned into a DNF. Her themes and aesthetics are everything I usually love but I’m starting to think her storytelling style just isn’t for me.
