The Importance of Getting Revenge
by Amanda Abram
3.5 but im rounding it up cuz there is POTENTIAL
well here I am back on my bullshit AGAIN...
-you got my fav enemies (used loosely but whatever they never spoke for four years) to lovers
- you got the fake dating (idc idc idc I will never not read fake dating/marriage/relationship-thingy)
- and kind of but not really a slow burn (well they are fake dating)
- and you have chemistry (it wouldn't break the SWOON meter but it did make an appearance there)
I love long books and this book was long and I liked it but it... waffles like I don't mind waffling unless it has witty dialogue but if it doesn't than that I start skimming to the important part coming.
now the dialogue YAAAS I wasn't bored to tears I actually liked it and found entertaining like there's POTENTIAL THERE like in my humble opinion I feel like dialogue and chemistry trumps all I'm a romance junkie Iv read a many books I've found when there is snappy/witty banter It reels me in it doesn't matter if its weaker in other areas I won't even notice as I am too busy being entertained case in hand stalking jack the ripper by Kerri Maniscalco (although it is NOT WEAK in any areas and literal perfection). Maniscalo has me in a chokehold I'll read her books no matter what, same with sarah j maas and every other author on my favourite booklist but whatever .
This book while not historical romance or high fantasy is ya romance contemporary where the ship and tension and dialogue drives it forward which was good but it could be better.
thing I found my eyes rolling my eyes on was this damned "so..." that kept propping if I drank I would probably knock one back every time and be a drunk by the end.
also the Characters were fleshed out nicely I liked the main character, Jase I wanted to clobber over the head LIKE REALLY DUDE?!?!? but that means I got invested which is good I cringed and I smiled and I went "oooh girl you really shouldn't" and rolled my eyes to the high heavens when the ex came crawling back
we had the teenage angst but the ending made up for the angst I was put through so yay for that
All in all it was a good read there was no insta love thank the lawd and Ill keep the eye out on the author I feel like her next book is gonna be even better.
the author note was very sweet it was very humble and sincere I also liked that *shrugs*
