This was a fun read. I love the build up of this book, I sped through it and finished it in a day because I wanted to know the why and what so bad. However, there was something I didn’t really like about it that I can’t exactly put my finger on. I think it’s how it’s written, I just didn’t love the writing style or the super short chapters. But it is a super engaging read which redeemed it for me.

I thought the plot had a lot of promise and I was excited to get to the ending for the why. But I felt it was kind of anticlimactic for me in a sense. Like idk I was just expecting more when it came to the ending, especially for why Avery was chosen. I did guess correctly about
the homeless guy Harry being Toby II
so that also might be a part of the reason the ending was kind of eh for me because I wasn’t all that surprised. I am curious to see
how Harry being Toby and Tobias meeting Avery at six connect though because I thought it was gonna be a one to the other situation.

Overall it was a fun quick read and a good palette cleanser between fantasy books for me. I’m looking forward to read the second book to see
how Harry/Toby II will fit in.
