howltct 's review for:
Confessions of a Shopaholic
by Sophie Kinsella
i really liked this book the first time i read it (i was either 12 or 13, and busy borrowing books from my mom's shelves), and i remember thinking "oh, so THIS is how my mom feels!" (because she was a self-proclaimed shopaholic- i think she definitely still is) and understanding her a bit better after that.
now, re-reading this at 24... i did not like it, at ALL. i guess my frontal lobe IS fully developed or something, lol. reading about the mc's thoughts and her way of thinking made me lose a few gray cells, and i wish i was kidding. i'm glad things worked out for her in the end but seriously... i think feminism went two steps backwards with this one.
i will obviously not be re-reading the rest of the books in the series for fear of losing even more gray cells.
