Darling

4.5 stars
I listened to the audiobook read by Angel Pean!
I haven't read any other Peter Pan retellings, though I know there are a lot out there. This is exactly the one I would have wanted to read. While the plot itself is fast-paced, there were moments that felt slow just because they were safer and more exploratory. I knew what the twist was, so I was never surprised but instead interested in how we were going to get there. I loved the entire cast of characters. I thought they were all unique and interesting and of course I loved a Black Wendy Darling. I thought the book would get a little more overtly dark but I am not particularly upset that it wasn't the case. I think one strength I didn't expect was that Hook was still largely an unlikeable character, despite his new role in the story.
