I was really looking forward to this new series. I loved Tessa's dragon series and the little peek of them there had me dying for more.
Unfortunately this was a bit of a let down. It felt like a remake of her other paranormal reverse harems. Until 94% the book felt like a blend of others she's done before. The twist was good though, but not completely unexpected.
Crescent Kingdoms hadthree mates not want a bond instead of only 1 in dragons. And most of their reasons felt like angsty dramatic bullshit, one of them came completely out of nowhere, and another is your usual hard-headed won't listen to any reason Alpha-hole. Aka Knox' twin brother. Like they all felt the pull towards Wren and their wolves were crazy about her, and then when its proven half of them change their minds??? If anything it should have been the opposite. This wasn't any new random bitch with a mate bond, this is the one they've been getting to know and (mostly) all liked? The dismissal felt way too out of place. Like just angst to pad the book.
The length was fine, actually my preferred length for multiple books in a series, especially for a planned trilogy following the same characters. But it still took me forever, and multiple reading attempts to get through it. It didn't grab me as much as Tessa's previous books did.
I loved the characters though, they were unique with their own personalities, always a plus for why choose books.
I'll of course read the rest of the series, but the cliffhanger endingdidn't give me any confidence book 2 will vary much in terms of new material. The cliffy felt VERY reminiscent of the Dragon series' cliffies
