I liked this book much more than the first one. The character development felt more polished and matched the story better. Ronan had a bigger focus in this book, and he is my favourite, so I enjoyed that. I also liked how the story moved forward with the introduction of new characters and their dynamic with the group. Blue’s character stood out more here. I was indifferent to her in the first book, but she was written really well this time.

The writing also felt stronger overall, and there were more good moments that kept me interested. The involvement of Blue’s family made the story more exciting. The book was satisfying from start to finish.

But the big disappointment was that it did not cover what the first book promised. The idea that Blue kissing her true love would kill him was the main hook of the first book, but it was ignored again. The mystery of Glendower was also left unresolved. The epilogue made me feel like these questions might not even be answered in the next book.

While I loved many things about this book, the lack of progress in the main story was a letdown. It felt like a lot happened, but nothing really moved forward in the bigger narrative.
