I’ve been following Dr. Becker for a few years. She always has great pet tips. Before reading this book, I thought I was doing really well — I’ve been feeding dehydrated Honest Kitchen for dinner for a few years, along with a big, heaping spoonful of pumpkin, some veggies at dinner (kale, red pepper, etc.), and usually a probiotic, super greens mixture, or a mixture for their cost. A few months back, I read about broccoli being amazing for dogs, so I added that. At breakfast, they were getting a high quality kibble, along with some blueberries or pieces of apple, and occasionally a little spoon of coconut oil. Their snacks were blueberries, kidney supplements, and other supplements. I also learned a few years ago to titer instead of doing vaccinations each year, something I wish I had learned earlier.

I really thought I was doing great, then I read the book. I guess I wasn’t doing too bad, but the book taught me that I can do a lot better. I’m currently looking into making some food for their breakfast, still including some kibble some days so that they’re used to it when they have to do kennel stays and don’t have a choice. I’m also slowly adding in many of the things Rodney and Dr. Becket suggested.

I’m impressed with how much information is in the book. I took a lot of notes so that I would have the important information easily accessible. They even have a web site with updated information and extra information. I suggest this book for anyone who wants to upgrade the health of their dogs and keep them around longer. My boys are eight and eleven, so I wish I had found it a little earlier, but I’m still hoping the changes have a big impact.
