I have been impatiently waiting for the final book in the Jackals & Vipers Duet and Summer Sparrow did not disappoint! It did take me a bit longer than I expected because I didn't know it was 600+ pages, but don't let that scare you! While most romances don't need that many pages, I feel like this one did for a couple different reasons. 1) This second chance romance actually seems legit because the second chance did not happen immediately. 2) Everything that happened would not have been possible in a shorter book - both timeline wise and detail wise. I'm so glad Emmerson Hoyt decided to make this longer so we weren't left with a story that felt incomplete.

Now this one is a slow burn, and while the romance is a pretty big plot line, the smut isn't. But when there is smut, it is filled with so much tension and I just ate it up. I also love that this wasn't just romance. I love what the Jackals do, and I loved getting to see more of that in Summer Sparrow.

The ending was definitely a whirlwind of action, but not in a way that jumbles everything together. It all wraps up so nicely. Though I do wish we had a look into Holly’s life. Maybe another book? I’d love to see her new life.

This is only the author's second book, but I cannot wait to see what else she's going to put out.
