The writing is fantastic and the story was often compelling but it was a contortionist narrative that I really struggled to follow. I kept losing track of characters and got lost a lot in the story. I was also expecting more of a resolution. I still don't really understand who the gods or monsters are, who the secret societies are, or what their aims are. Basically I left the book confused, but this could be a result of a lack of focus on my part.
