The Forgotten Sisters by Shannon Hale
5.0

This is not a book about fairy princesses. This is not a fluffy story about girls who can't take care of themselves and need to be rescued by a prince. This is a book packed with girl power. These girls hold their own.
Yes, there is some romance. Yes, there are strong male characters too who are helpful. But the story and the mission are driven by the girls.
Apart from that,(which was required for clearing up any misconceptions about the title) I repeat something I said about the second book in the series: This is a reflection of the real world, packed with poverty, corruption, deceit and fear. And it is packed with real characters who have to find a way to survive.
I wish I could give this book six stars.
