Chasms Between Us by Kussy Gonzalez

4.0

This book is a wild ride spanning over a decade of Hunter and Logan's lives. There's denial, heartbreak, and so much emotion. I couldn't put this book down and spent an entire Sunday reading it. Kussy's writing is just that good, despite this being her debut novel.

Things you have to be cool with before going into this book:

1) Cheating. There's so much cheating from everybody. If that's a no-go for you, consider skipping this book. There is no skimming over it.

2) MF and MMF scenes. There are multiple detailed MF and MMF scenes throughout the book. If you're going into this wanting *only* MM scenes, you'll be disappointed. I knew what to expect going in and was able to cope with these occurrences.

3) Reluctant/poorly done polyamory. These boys are disasters and do not do polyamory in a healthy way. This is not me criticizing the writing, but rather giving a warning that it isn't a good example of true consensual polyam.

4) Unsafe sex

Definitely check the tropes and content warnings before going into this one. It is not a light book. It will have you in your feels. From shock to adoration to frustration and maybe even happiness. The twists are absolutely wild and not all easily predictable. My only complaint is that I wish Hunter and Logan got more of a happiness payout on page for all the suffering they endured.

Overall, I had a good time with this book. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for an angsty, twisty page-turner with tropes of best friends-to-lovers, gay denial and acceptance, and second chances.
