The Shining by Stephen King
4.0

A lot better then I remember it being, when I read it at recess when I was in sixth grade. On the other hand, I have a small feeling I skipped half the book that time, as I don't remember any of the occurrences after Jack's first conversation with the imaginary barman.
And while the ending was great, ever since they got Roger the dog-man into my head I couldn't let the knowledge that "someone for sure made a Roger×that mafia man fanfic somewhere on the internet" go, and I just had the funniest time thinking of it the whole time they had the giant climax of the story.
"Ah yes Wendy is screaming for her life. This is so tense. I can feel the fear of all the characters in this. I wonder if Roger has a pet-play kink-"
But all in all, this is a great book. The way Stephen King writes fear is phenomenal.
