My husband gifted me this book last year for Hanukkah (we have a book giving tradition), and it took me forever to finish! Overall, it’s a fun book that features librarians as powerful fantasy heroes, and magical books. It felt like reading a fan fiction of the manga Black Butler, though, because of Silas and the flow of the action. There were a few things I didn’t enjoy related to YA tropes that I didn’t like as a teenager either, and the whole “sorcerers are evil” felt incredibly forced given that they were fully integrated into society and few people seemed to mind them, but overall I enjoyed this book.

📘The Gist 📘: Elizabeth Scrivner’s home is a Great Library until it is attacked by a mysterious assailant and she’s framed for it. Elizabeth must turn to an unlikely ally for help in order to escape the trap laid for her by the real assailant.
