Wish You Were Here
by Jodi Picoult
I put this book off for a while, because I really was in no mood for anything pandemic. Then I realized it will be FOUR YEARS in the next couple of months. Any part of this book I didn't love wasn't because of the timing of my reading, but of my higher expectations for Picoult. She used to be one of my absolute favorite authors and this one just didn't do it for me like the others. For that I would give it 3 stars.
***possible SPOILER ALERT***However, my dad was recently hospitalized and experienced horrible hospital delirium. I have never seen my dad scared, but when he called me from a "paint shop" and told me about how he was pushed off in a corner and could hear my voice, but I couldn't come it was nothing less than fear. We had never heard of this and it took a lot of talking to help him understand reality vs HIS reality. For that alone, I moved my ranking of this book from 3 star to 4 star. I wish we all knew more about the experiences people have during trauma, so we can better support them when it happens.
