The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy: The Summer I Turned Pretty; It's Not Summer Without You; We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han

4.0

I first read this book during my Jenny Han phase in seventh grade— that’s where it should have stayed.
I just reread this book now 4-5 years later and I do want to say that it’s not the same.

When I first read this book series I loved it. I enjoyed this one more than the “To all the Boys” series. It has a warm, fuzzy, and romantic sort of feel to it. But I think this book is definitely more geared toward younger readers than YA readers.

The writing in this book now feels more juvenile and adolescent than I previously remembered it to be. The writing is still very good, no doubt, but it’s not the same anymore.

In a way, this trilogy made me realize how much I’ve grown and matured over the past few years and I am grateful for that.
