The Reader by Bernhard Schlink
4.0
At times I found this to be an uncomfortable read, and not for the reasons you might think.
I enjoyed reading about the trials people who served in the Nazis regime had to face (however realistic they are in this novel), and I enjoyed reading about the guilt people felt even towards their own family in post war Germany (again, however realistic those feelings are in this novel).
What I didn't like was the very inappropriate relationship between Hanna and Michael. I felt at times certain aspects of their relationship were explained in more detail than what I felt was nessicary.
Overall, I did enjoy this story. I enjoy reading historical fiction set during or around the time of the second world war because learning about it this way is very intruging to me.
I do recommend this story. Just beware that there are some explicit scenes in this book.
