The Love Wager
by Lynn Painter
3.5 Stars.
I actually quite enjoyed this book but I definitely took issue with a couple things. Jack and Hallie's first initial meeting and get-together was fun and sexy and I liked that a friendship formed from their one night. Their friendship quickly became the thing that I enjoyed the most because it felt organic and you could feel the underlying sexual tension slowly grow. Their wager of who could fall in love first could only end with someone getting hurt. The biggest issue I had was with the conflict between Jack and Hallie. Every romcom just HAS to have one but Jack was very clearly in the wrong. What he did was pretty shitty and he didn't even think so.
I did like the ending and love confession because it wasn't polished at all. The nod to Pride and Prejudice was cute and I think they made a good couple in the end.
