this was kind of a slog to get through ngl. the beginning is slow but it kind of picks up in the second half and the school is the most compelling part which is unfortunate cause we spend very little time there before it’s literally destroyed.
i kind of need zen dead like idgaf about setting that demon turtle free like why is lan begging for him to stay alive when within 3 chapters your “lover” kills your dad (only for her to find out in his last dying breath), brings the colonists to destroy the last safe practitioner sanctuary, chokes tf out of you to KILL you, and causes her more physical pain by fucking with her seal like omfg
i usually read sequels like right away but i need to set lan and zen aside for a bit lol
