It's been a long time since I've read a novella (and even longer since I've read one I actually enjoyed), but Six Scorched Roses was as close to perfect as you can get. Having read the two other books in this series, I didn't expect to be so charmed by Lilith and Vale because I'd previously seen so little of them, but they've somehow managed to become my favorites when compared to Oraya and Raihn—that's shocking.

Beyond the sweetness of the romance,  this story gave such a beautiful glimpse into the human condition and its relationship with death and I love it all the more for the introspective journey it took me on. Easy 4.75 stars!
