This book is not for the faint of heart! I added all of the warnings I could remember so anyone who comes across this book is aware of what they're trying to read.
I had a morbid fascination with the book when I came across the summary of the book since I've come across works such as Never Let Me Go (Kazuo Ishiguro) and Promised Neverland (Kaiu Shirai), which discuss a sci-fi, dystopian universe wherein people become commodities for organ donation (in the case of Never Let Me Go) and consumption (such as in the case of Promised Neverland).
In Tender is the Flesh, Agustina Bazterrica's description of characters and scenes are very vivid that you get sucked in the world where this is the norm, that people eat other people (hereby referred to as "products", or "meat") in a legalized way. It's simple and not action-packed at all, but still comes across as shocking and horrifying with the extent of how things such as killing and breeding are normalized in their society.
I got the Barnes & Noble Exclusive copy which adds a bonus content of a message from the author on what inspired her to write the book, and I recommend it as an additional reading if you're confused about the message of the book.
