This was a book I would have wanted to read when I was struggling with my first generation Chinese-Canadian identity (whose parents are also from a country that isn't China) and living within the constraints of outdated Chinese values. I really appreciate how the author understood the struggles we face and how to embrace that multicultural identity.

I highly recommend reading this book to a young reader who can identify with the story.
