listen this would be so much better if zahara wasn’t the actual worst for 90% of the book

she was so so so annoying and terrible to iakov who literally never did anything to her. obvs i love me an obsessed man, and iakov was that for sure, but it felt a little off in this one. she’s already been a major bitch to him for a good chunk of it, and iakov just has no backbone and goes along with it. just lets her walk all over him. he deserved better

that being said, she got less intolerable towards the end but only because so much was going on that there wasn’t any time for her to spoil my mood. the thing with her dad felt a little too easily wrapped up. like this book was written well as a whole, which is one good thing i can say about it at least, but the quick ass conversation she had with her dad after her professor attacked her felt so cheap. idk how else to explain it really.

so i didn’t hate this- i actually kinda liked iakov and zahara together despite her being so terrible to him most of the time. i know that seems weird, but their dynamic worked a little. just the sad girl x sad boy trope. not the “she walks all over him even tho he doesn’t deserve it” trope…

anyway i loved seeing the crumbs of the other couples. and i’m slightly curious and scared for luka’s book. idk if im connected enough to this series/author to want to read it but who knows what the future holds

basically to sum it up- the potential was there, the writing was pretty good, the foundations of the book and the relationship were really intriguing and probably a big part of why i finished the book. it’s just that zahara sucked pretty bad for a long while there…
