There With You by Samantha Young
4.0
Overall rating: 4/5
This book was only slightly better than the first one, and it's for two reasons only.
1. Regan is a great fucking character
2. The kids are super fucking adorable
That's the only reason this gets a higher rating than the first book. I had pretty much the same issues I did with the first book. The pacing was 👎. Again, as a romantic suspense book, there was practically little to no suspense build up, and it was probably even worse than the first book. You're telling me this girl ran from a stalker and instead of building up to her meeting said stalker he just pops out of nowhere? I watch a lot of true crime, and almost no stalker case I've seen is like that... stalkers love to make themselves know, so why was this one like a pop the wiesle game but instead of the music for anticipation .... you hear nothing.... I was so disappointed in the pacing.
The romance was pretty cute only because of Regan.. seeing how honest and outspoken she was made me want to fight with her as you can tell she really loved those kiddos and their father (even if he is a Grade A Bitch boi like his brother). And lemme tell you being a step parent IS NOT FOR THE WEAK! I say this as a child who has a step parent... my step parent dealt with a lot of bullshit and while not perfect, that person is just as important as my bio parent. Regan took those kids and squeezed herself into their life, loving and caring as she was!
I also loved how Regan didn't make excuses for her past mistakes. She delt with her insecurities head on and confronted the people she lost. I like her more than Robyn tbh LMAO.
I have almost nothing to say about Thane... I forget his name half the time... he's another bitch boy and so far the Adairs just have a family of Bitch boys... Thane, much like his brother, was so standoffish and avoidanted it made me want to punch him in the nuts... AND YOU HAVE KIDS BRO?! HELLO?! Grow df up. If you love a woman FUCKING FIGHT FOR HER PUSSY. Please excuse my language omfg... I however, will say that he was a great dad to those kids and some of his decisions regarding Regan made sense... he didn't want to get with someone to get attached to the kids who could possibly "runaway" or "leave" and I respect him for that. One thing that man did was always choose his kids first.
Overall, while I'm gripping about it, I did enjoy this story a lot more than the first one as the characters were a lot more adorable, relatable, and likable (except you, Thane... fucking pussy).
Also unnamed hospital nurse bodies every. Single. Character. In this fucking series so far. I want the nurses' story. She's badass.
Will I continue this series? Probably... Now, will I complete it anytime soon? Probably not.... :3
