The Aeneid by Virgil

4.0

Read 2 or 3 ish times in Roman Roads, AP Latin, and Latin 320 at college, then read in full again for Great Books I. I'm still somewhat ambivalent just because of how much I love the Odyssey. But it's not bad. I translated roughly 1/3 of it from Latin in 11th grade, and then maybe 1/4 of it in freshman year. I enjoy looking at it both from a Latin perspective and a literature perspective, and there's so much to explore and a lot I could write about here, but I don't have time right now. It's good and you should read it. Homer is better. :)

Update 2023: I keep finding more appreciation for this every time I think about it/read parts. I think I still like Homer more, but there is real contention now.

Reread books 4, 6, 8, 12 for Roman Lit in college.
