You can tell that SJM'S writing skills improved over the course of this series, and the last few books were much more worth their length than the first couple. I liked the growth from Aelin while healing after escaping Maeve and how it helped recontextualize some of her more "I'm a sassy, badass female protagonist. Yes I'm a teenager. Yes I'm a master assassin." behavior earlier in the series that I think was in part due to the author being earlier in her career. The book also did a good job bringing in characters from the various plot threads and tying those up in the end.
Graphic: Fire/Fire injury and Torture
Moderate: Schizophrenia/Psychosis and War
Minor: Blood, Animal death, Death of parent, and Suicidal thoughts
