I really appreciate that it bridges Episode II and the start of Clone Wars (the quasi canonical?) micro series and the regular series. That being said, it’s a fun adventure in its own right. 
I also like that it works to help add depth to the Neimoidian. However, it could have been handled better. The book basically turns to camera and breaks the fourth wall with a couple of literal speeches about Neimoidians, which amount to (not literally) saying, “we’re not those caricature stereotypes from The Phantom Menace” in a borderline cringey way. It could have been handled with more subtlety.
