As a graphic novel, it did everything it could for an adaptation. This sounds bad, but I honestly think it was really great.
It was incredibly slow, since it had lots and lots of text and dialogue, which is understandable, because these monologues and conversations are the backbone of the original novel.
The illustrations were amazing and they managed to be greatly atmospheric. Also, the special use of red was perfect.
Also the pacing was spot on. Matyáš really adapted the perfect amount of the source material. I felt like this didn't fade in comparison to the book itself. It was just portrayed differently.
Creating this took great skill, talent and effort and it was really well done.
