Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler

4.0

Everyone's review of this book seems to be rather scathing. There's a lot of judgement of Min and her run-on sentences, and I think you all missed the point.

This book is, in words, the feeling you get when you mess up royally. In your first relationship, you ditch your friends, you make poor decisions, and you put far too much weight into the relationship when it's really just made of feathers. We've all been there and Daniel Handler puts that awkward high school smart ass right in her place.

It's not literary genius but this book isn't meant to be. It's simply to remind us of that feeling of utter dread at the end of a relationship, when you try to analyze all the bits and pieces to make yourself better. It's a fast read and compelling. Read this when you need to be knocked down a peg, when you need to remember that the world keeps spinning even when we're falling.
