The Dead Romantics
by Ashley Poston
I never review books, mostly because I cannot remember details to save my life and lose the plot about two minutes after finishing. But this book was fucking stellar, so here I am.
I’ll keep it short and sweet: did the book have some (very few, practically nonexistent) flaws? yes. Am I probably just experiencing a book high? also yes.
But jfc, the romance was good. The plot was good. The family dynamics pulled at my heartstrings and made me weep like a baby. The writing was lyrical and the prose was rich. But the way the author wrote about grief? Yeah, I want it tattooed behind my eyelids. Shakespeare couldn’t have written this book (Taylor swift? maybe. Dickens? absolutely not.)
All this to say, if you’re thinking about reading this book, I absolutely think you should.
