6 STAR READ: not only was this bumped up to my FAVORITE read of the year, but it also just became my favorite book in the ravenhood series!!
For me there is a difference in reading a book & loving a couple & their story & then reading a book & FEELING that love & ALL of their pain and emotions as if its playing out in front of me in real time & that is how Kate's characters & their relationships have always been for me. She is genuinely such an amazing writer.
Part one: gave so much back story so that we could finally understand why Delphine is the person that she is when we first met her in ravenhood. & why all of the heartbreakingly hard things that she has gone through has made her turn to alcohol to drown her pain. & at the same time, we never knew everything that Tyler was going through or what he had been through during the trilogy - it really puts their characters into perspective. Because we only knew that they had history in the other books. While part one absolutely wrecked me, I was super thankful that we had that back story.
Part two put me back together - we got a lot of important information about the ravenhood & some answers to some REALLY big questions we had which I appreciated. & then Kate put us back together with Tyler & Delphine reconnecting. But we know how this story goes....
Part three: first thing, we are reliving Dom for the third time in this book. & yes, it hurts JUST as bad. Especially seeing things from Delphines pov this time. & I truly didn't think anything could hurt worse than that - but Kate really said, hold my pen.... & the last 25ish% of this book DESTROYED me! While I want Tyler to be able to get his happy ending - I really don't know how anyone will compare to them. But, if anyone can make it happen - it's Kate. Regardless, I will neverrrr get over them!
