This was by far the best of the Vikings graphic novels/comics that I've read so far, in no small part because Cavan Scott wrote this and his writing chops are more than just a little well known. Godhead also benefits from getting to be much longer than 15-pages: it allows for twists and turns, and for multiple characters to shine. Godhead seems to especially like Athelstan. He gets some of the best moments in the story, and I really enjoyed his interactions with Floki especially.
What ultimately keeps me from giving this fives stars is the artwork itself. It certainly isn't terrible, but the shorter 15-page comics all definitely looked better. Still, the writing and that interview between Michael Hirst and Cavan Scott at the end more than make up for the lackluster art direction. I would definitely recommend this for any fans of the t.v. series.
