The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny

4.0

I rate this book a solid 4 stars. I enjoyed it, but it absolutely felt different from Louise Penny's other books. This book felt...heavy. It has all the things I love about Louise Penny's writing, except that I wish we saw more of our beloved Three Pines characters. They are in the story, just not as central as usual. Toward the end, as Gamache and co get closer to solving the mystery, I felt as though there was a LOT of bouncing back and forth between who was the suspected murderer. And that may have been intentional, but it just read as indecisive for me. I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I just don't have quite as much love for this one as I do the others.
