Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

5.0

There's a difference between really loving someone and loving the idea of her.

Gone Girl is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I think this is the first time I've ever read an adult thriller. I definitely want to read more after finishing this, especially Gillian Flynn's debut, Sharp Objects (I watched the HBO miniseries over the summer and loved it). This book is insane from start to finish, and it's so well-written. I thought maybe I wouldn't enjoy it as much because I already knew the story, having watched the movie first, but that didn't change anything, I still loved it.

In the movie, I liked Amy a lot more, but I think towards the end of the book, I was sympathetic towards Nick, which I never would've expected lol. I saw people saying they didn't enjoy the book because they found the characters unlikable, but I kind of feel like that was the point. Anyways, I honestly couldn't find any flaws with this book, and I had such a good time reading it, so obviously I have to give it 5 stars.
