Consider the Fork: A History of How We Cook and Eat by Bee Wilson

5.0

This was a great read - if you like to cook you will definitely want to pick this up. Wilson walks through how cooking technology has transformed, looking at everything from the slow evolution of the cooking fire into the modern stove and the invention of the can opener (which didn't happen until 50 years after tin cans were put into use, can you imagine! They had to be opened with a hammer and chisel.) I found her writing to be clear and enjoyable, and there are some lovely little illustrations throughout. Highly recommended!
