Wolfhunter River by Rachel Caine

4.0

This book was a turning point for the series and very different from the first two, whicu I think explains why so many people did not like it. The first two books had a lot to do wit Melvin Royal and the torture he inflicted upon his family with his crimes. In this one, Mel is dead and there are new problems on the horizon.

Laney is in a relationship and dealing with drama there, Connor is dealing with the fact that he broke trust when he listened to his father, Gwen is having flashbacks and Sam has a secret from his past he is not sharing. And bpy was it a whopper.

At the same time, Gwen is receiving calls from women in need. And this time it is a woman from the town of Wolfhunter who asks for help and then winds up dead with her daughter arrested. And Gwen, Sam and the kids are drawn into solving it. It involes a missing girl, missing women, a car crash or three, a cult and a corrupt town. I actually found it very interesting. For a book people called boring there was a lot of suspense.

And now, Gwen is going to be a private investigator!
