Cerebus by Dave Sim

I picked this up because: I've been reading that this series was a classic ever since I bought my first issue of Wizard magazine in the early 90s.

Synopsis: Anthropomorphic aardvark goes on adventures. Just wants gold, but ends up sidetracked by local politics and superheroes(Captain Cockroach, in particular).

The first 25 issues of a 300-issue series, chronicling Cerebus' life from 27 'til death. Pretty funny, but it's just the groundwork for deeper stories later on.

I've read that Dave Sim lost his shit about halfway through the series, and it became a xenophobic, misogynistic mess. I hope to read up to that point. Then I'll check Wikipedia for the rest. I want to know what happens to the earth-pig.
