The pacing of this book was a struggle for me. I was never pulled in, and so I’ve been languishing and waiting for it to “warm up” for way longer than is reasonable. The story is heavy handed on one specific atmosphere, and I found the prose overly descriptive for the level of importance (eg. don’t describe something with intricate depth if it is not actually important). I think the plot is somewhat interesting, but the pacing is so plodding that I’ll never find out how it ends.
