Sinful Crimes for the Artistically Inclined by WH Lockwood is quite a romp!
It’s everything it promises and more—exactly what I needed after finishing a grimdark fantasy.
Meet Catholic priest and exorcist Joe Bruno, who's been nursing a secret crush on the irresistible, demon-slaying art historian, Percy Ashdown. One fateful night, when Joe realises he might lose Percy forever, he lays his cards on the table. Little does he know, Percy has dreamed of this moment since day one! Before you can say "Hail Mary," they whisk off to Europe for the adventure of a lifetime. Suddenly, they're caught up in crime, blood, and a whole lot of mm romp!
The characters are super fun and well-developed, with fascinating insights into history thanks to Percy's passion for ancient treasures (his is an art historian/thief with a ‘penchant’ for Caravaggio) and Joe's expertise. Their journey is packed with twists, showcasing the ups and downs of their unconventional ‘situationship.’
I was initially confused because I didn’t realise this was a spin-off of a previous Lockwood's trilogy, which made me feel like I was missing some backstory. However, that didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the story! The prose is anarchic, the pacing is fantastic, and there’s a delightful dash of kink. WH Lockwood truly grips you from start to finish—the title says it all! #pudseyrecommends
