Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

5.0

I’ve practically pulled an all nighter for this book.

Rocky. That is all.

The ending just made me cry.

I hated Stratt.

I liked how like. In The Martian it was like “thing goes wrong. character fixes wrong thing. rinse repeat.” But in this one it’s like a BUNCH of stuff went REALLY WELL and then a bunch of stuff went to so much shit at the end. I was so worried.

Rocky. Rocky is my best friend. I love Rocky. Rocky. I love him. Goodbye.

The ending SERIOUSLY made me cry I’m so sad like I realized what was happening and I was like oh my god. Oh my god. Ok. Heartbroken in a good way goodbye.

Honestly this is just wholesome aliens being besties. It felt more like just what would happen if you had Good people meet aliens and want to learn about them, more than like a saving humanity kinda thing.

I liked how they messed around with alien biology. The first alien was just a dot thing that used light to move around. The second alien was a spider looking thing that can see sounds and remember literally everything and had similar intelligence to us. The rest was just like. Bacteria. And that’s how it should be! I’ve been saying what are the chances that aliens just have the same way of existing as us??? So much biological diversity on ONE planet alone and people think aliens are just gonna be humans with extra steps? Come on bro.

Man I love this book. I’m pissed at how Stratt got everything she wanted though. For the sake of my sanity I’m gonna assume she got some HORRIBLE karma :) because she’s mean :)

I mean about the ending it does leave some questions to be answered I guess…but that’s okay because what we were given is so sweet. It was just a bittersweet ending.

Another five stars for Andy Weir (man I just like sciency books a bit too much).
