Better than the first but not by much. The exciting, fast paced, aspects starts in the last 100-odd pages with a cliffhanger that does hurt your heart.  The writing seems all over the place - no real continuance of story lines (still little history on Medra which everyone seems to accept.  Blake’s “sister” - who cares? Takana is a wolf - wtf?).

However the rest of the book is bareable, just.
Medra’s rage towards Blake is understandable but predictable. Her feelings for him seem to chop and change like the weather. I enjoyed her developing friendship with Theo and Visha.  I like her friendship with Florence too but don’t like how she treats her like a naive child sometimes.

Blake - definitely still giving Draco Malloy vibes.  Seemed to do a 180 on his behaviour after finally realising he was treating Medra like crap but don’t worry Blake, she seemed to forgive you real easily 😒.

Everything seemed a little disjointed and easy - finding the diary will ALL the real dragon history written down by the one man who didn’t want any one to know, was silly.  Blake barely had to work for that at all 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Still too much of a mixture between Vampire Diaries & Fourth Wing for it to really stand on its own two feet as a series.

However, Neville will always be supreme !!
