Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good by adrienne maree brown

5.0

Finished this book, but I am absolutely not done with it. I had to return this to the library, so I didn't quite get to take in the book as slowly as I wanted to, but it is truly a phenomenal piece of writing. This semester, I have been swallowed up by care ethics through one of my classes. My entire semester has been devoted to reading about care as an ethical theory—one that is transformative & community-strengthening. It was impossible for me not to think of care ethics as I read about pleasure. The idea of pleasure and self-care as overlapping continued to resurface in my mind, and I would love to explore more of this. Can't wait to reread this summer and spend more time on each section. This is awesome.
