Based on the other reviews, it’s probably either a love or hate relationship with the book.

I loved the book, I learned a lot and I do think the short chapters work. In my opinion, Yaa Guasi is able to knit all stories together beautifully, and she succeeds in drawing layered characters in just a few moments of their lives. I found it fascinating she made it possible to learn so much, gain empathy for so many people in a relatively short book. This could easily have had 200 extra pages. I don’t miss them, but I would have enjoyed to read them. That’s  why I won’t give a full 5 star-rating.
