Reaper Restrained by Harley Raige, Harley Raige

I really wanted to like this more than I did.

The writing felt very immature; more akin to high school kids than the adults they are supposed to be. I could perhaps excuse it for the FMCs (both early 20's?) but as much as I'm all for a good insult, the constant slinging of them was just irritating AF.
15 POVs was too many. I understand the need for world building, but it felt messy, chaotic and most of the character voices were not distinct enough. It felt like too many back stories crammed in for the sake of. We could have understood most of it from Ray's conversations with them; to divide it into so many other viewpoints felt really confusing for the reader.
The relationship that was thrown in felt rushed and had little connection; no tension whatsoever and a distinctly superficial attraction that seemed to have no depth to it. We're supposed to believe that Ares is head over heels, but why? Because she's beautiful and everyone always falls for her? Because I feel like he'd probably have been exposed to a lot of that over the years in his position.

Ray is 100% 'not like other girls' trope taken to the extreme. She's supposed to be a super bada$$ chick, but she just annoyed me. I'm guessing she has DID with socio & psycho extremes but I'm not quite sure yet. It's all a little too over the top for her to be likeable to me in any way though.
The whole family dynamic feels very awkward, especially the beginning where we are introduced to them which just read very strangely. The awful brother/sister from another mister is explained late on; but to get to 97% to hear it felt like a huge challenge.
I suppose I may read the next book to find out where the story goes from here, but I won't be rushing to download. Sorry to say :(
